Gator Bites Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound alligator tail meat, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Dipping Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Marinate: Soak gator meat in buttermilk for 1 hour.

  2. Bread: Mix flour, cornmeal, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Dredge gator pieces in mixture.

  3. Fry: Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry bites until golden and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

  4. Sauce: Mix mayonnaise, hot sauce, and lemon juice.

  5. Serve: Serve bites hot with dipping sauce.

Variations

  • Substitute chicken for gator if unavailable.
